Are You Memorable or Mundane?
Business author Dan Pink has a weekly podcast wherein he interviews other influential writers and speakers, one of the latest being sales and networking guru Harvey Mackay (search his name on Amazon and buy and read ANY of his books.) You’d think Mackay was doing Pink a favor by being on the show (Harvey is kind of a big deal), but he didn’t get to be the legend he is today by being ungrateful, and he sent Pink a thank you letter.But it wasn’t just ANY thank you letter.
It was memorable and remarkable and you just know it’s going to be shown and talked about in a much greater proportion than the effort that it took to write it. But Harvey took a few seconds to be just a little bit more creative than the typical person who might jot down a quick thank you (if they even bothered to say thank you at all!)
A couple questions for you…
- Are you sending enough thank you notes to people who said YES to you?
- Are you sending enough thank you notes to people who said NO to you?
- Are you taking the opportunity offered by the note to further demonstrate how remarkable you are?
