Effort Equals Results
Only effort can bring you results.
Your results are not always equal your efforts.
Sometimes you get 10X the results you expected from even the smallest amount of effort and other times you can pour all kinds of effort into a project and only see a trickle of results — but you have to put in the effort in order to get any results.
You may not like your results
You only get results from investing effort, but you may not always like the results you get! You might be putting in the effort to try and get your company to launch a new product idea you’ve developed, but that doesn’t mean they will end up putting your product on the market.
You might expend effort to get a raise or a promotion. You may put a ton of time and energy into trying to win over a new client account. Those are two pretty common scenarios where the results you get may not be the results you were hoping for.
Your results may vary.
Your results aren’t guaranteed, but I would still argue that you’re better off putting in the effort to get results you don’t like, than to never put in the effort and never know the outcome.
Exerting effort with the the intent to improve a situation or achieve a goal makes you better. You can get more efficient at investing effort, you can become more strategic in the effort you expend, and if you don’t get the results you wanted you always have the option to begin again — to learn from past efforts and to begin again more intelligently.
