Tell Your Worries to Flock-Off

Tell Your Worries to Flock-Off

October 28, 2010

Worries flock together like birds. It starts with just one worry flapping its wings and squawking in your head, but it can quickly lead to other worst-case-what-ifs joining in. Soon you have an entire aviary of anxiety housed in your head. The thing about birds (and worries) is that any sort of quick movement toward […]

Behind the Curtain

Behind the Curtain

October 19, 2010

Customers are curious. Customers like to “know” things. Let customers peek behind the curtain of your business to see how the magic is accomplished. The Wizard of Oz only succeeded in frightening and aggravating his prospects when he tried to make himself appear to be the big man and impress them with how big and powerful his organization was (we’ve been in business for 100 years, we’re largest supplier of Munchkin Mufllers in the west, etc.), but once his buyers expressed doubt all his bragging evaporated into a puff of smoke.

New Day. New Choices.

New Day. New Choices.

October 18, 2010

Did you know that you get exactly the kind of day you choose?
Did you jump out of bed five minutes before the alarm went off eager to greet the day with a “God, What a good morning!” or did you blindly thrash out a hand to hit the snooze bar after it honked at you for ten minutes with a grumbled “Good God… it’s morning.”

It’s a new day and new choice (YOUR choice) every morning.

Do You Fail at Follow Up?

Do You Fail at Follow Up?

September 30, 2010

How many times have you sent an email and forgot to follow-up, only to discover you missed an opportunity because you forgot to be in the right place at the right time?  A clever new website I learned about from my friends at CoolBusinessIdeas.com allows you three fantastic ways to follow-up on tasks, contacts, and […]

Attention! This Book Will Make You Money by Jim Kukral

Attention! This blog post will make you money

September 22, 2010

Technically the title of this post is true… IF you click the link and buy yourself a copy of the book I’m talking about. Some may say I am biased because the author (Jim Kukral) is a friend of mine, lives in the city where I grew up, endures my familiar and eternal pain that is […]

Attitude Alchemy

Attitude Alchemy

September 21, 2010

Alchemy was the ancient science and art of transmutation — the idea that with the proper knowledge one could convert universal matter from one thing into any other thing — primarily the pursuit seemed to focus on changing base metals into gold. The tool thought to unlock these secrets for the alchemist was an item referred to as The Philosopher’s Stone. I’ve discovered the secret of transmuting negative emotion into positive emotion. Worry, fear, depression, etc. can all be converted into positive energy. Emotional lead magically transformed into an attitude of gold.

Don’t forget me when you’re gone

Don’t forget me when you’re gone

September 14, 2010

Inevitably, you will meet someone on your “hot list” — a person of influence you’ve been trying to meet for weeks (if not months) — and here’s your big chance. And… you don’t have a business card! You either didn’t bring enough to the event (oh! I just handed out my last one!) or you “have more in the car” or perhaps you’ve run into this person out of context — outside of a formal business networking event (grocery store, sporting event, concert, etc.)

A famous quote by Woody Allen says “90% of success is showing up.”
A famous quote by Jeffrey Gitomer is “90% of success is showing up prepared.”
Why not show up prepared to be unprepared?
