Stop Sending Canoe Emails
Too many people send out armadas of canoe emails instead of sending emails the provide value to the recipient.
Don’t know what a canoe email is?
Canoe emails ASK for things prior to giving anything.
I think you know the type.
You may even be guilty of sending out a few of these yourself!
Canoe…
- Buy my product?
- Do me a favor?
- Give me an appointment?
- Write me a referral?
- Loan me some money?
- Post a LinkedIn endorsement?
- Like my Facebook page?
- Retweet my message?
Canoe see what I mean?
What people don’t realize is that canoe emails put them in the position of paddling upstream. You’re putting yourself in a deficit situation from the very start! You’ll get much further downstream (with greater ease) by helping the other person row in the direction THEY are headed. Give them ideas, information, recommendations, resources, etc. that help THEM move further down the river toward their own destination before you start asking them for anything.
When the opportunity is right, they’ll remember you’re all in the same boat together.
