Turning Problems Into Pets
I’m a big believer in finding scary monsters to slay. The most dangerous dragons guard the greatest treasure (the dragons are there to helps us see how much we really want the treasure), but sometimes the big scary monsters are really just cuddly little cutie-pies — and the dangerous dragon might just turn out to be a perfect pet lizard.
The actual size and scale of the problem you’re dreading may be much smaller than your fear is making you think it is.
The dog’s bark could very well be worse than it’s bite, the roaring lion may just have a thorn in its paw, and the fearsome dragon might just need it’s belly rubbed.
Once you face the thing you fear and stand up to it (if not conquer it completely) it will never have the same effect on you again. You survived it, lived to tell the tale, and now you have experience to draw upon the next time it happens (and it will happen again).
Each time you face your dragons down they get a little smaller in size and less frightening to behold. Pretty soon you’ll be greeting them like a favorite pet and scratching them on the top of their heads while talking baby-talk to them…
Who’s a cutie-wooty-wittle dragon??
You are… Yes you are!
