What Is Standing In Your Way?
What (or Who) is standing in your way and blocking you from achieving your goals?
A lot of people will say money is preventing them from accomplishing what they want. If you’re one of them, count yourself lucky! Lack of money is probably the easiest thing to overcome (even though it’s the most common reason/excuse). You can pre-sell your work, crowdfund to raise money, save money from your regular income, get a new job to just raise money for your project, or even find low-interest credit cards (that should be a last resort – not a first option).
People standing in your way and blocking your big shot is probably the second most cited obstacle. This is more difficult to overcome than lack of funds (but not insurmountable) and this challenge will really help you prioritize just how much your really want to achieve that goal. If the person is a current boss or manager, you can quit. There are other people out there you can work for. If it’s a relative, you can avoid the topic with them (or just avoid the relative altogether). If it’s a spouse — that’s the toughest. You can try to win them over to your side, or you can negotiate a period of time where they’ll let you give it a shot before you’re forced to abandon the idea, or you can nail down your priority… whether it’s divorcing yourself of the idea or it’s divorcing each other.
The hardest hurdle to overcome is if technology is standing in your way. If you have an awesome idea for instantly teleporting people to Hawaii for vacations, you’re going to have a really hard time achieving that goal because the technology just isn’t developed enough for that use (at least not yet!).
If the technology you need is actually within your reach, you might be able to leverage your finances or your personal contacts to access or adapt or develop it to the point you can apply it to achieving your goals.
Well, will you look at that…
Perhaps money and people aren’t standing in your way at all.
Maybe they are actually standing beside you and are ready and willing to assist you in scoring that goal.
Turns out that in reality, you may be the only thing standing in the way of achieving your desires.
