You Can Whine About It Or Work On It
UGH. Frickin’ cry babies.
You know who I’m talking about — people who rather whine about a problem than work on it to get it resolved.
Is there anything more annoying?
I’ve witnessed people whine for days (DAYS!) about a problem they could have fixed in five minutes.
Thankfully, I don’t understand the logic. I’m all for empathy, but there are exceptions (and whiners fall in that category).
I especially don’t understand the negativity and delay in regard to something that everyone knows has to be done. You can whine all you like about the BMV, but when it’s time to get your driver’s license or vehicle plates renewed you’re going to end up doing it. Why spend a week whining about how long the lines are, how slow the employees move, and how rude all those “other” people are who are also waiting in line.
If you’re working in the office and paperwork needs to be completed, just do the paperwork. You might hate that part of the job, but complaining about it isn’t going to make it any better — and I think complaining about stuff actually makes it worse.
Whining about a task doesn’t get it done any sooner or make it any more enjoyable to perform.
Picking up the dog poop in your yard on Saturday morning isn’t going to be any more fun if you whine about it all day Friday. If you hate a task that much, hire someone else to do it.
If you constantly complain about a process in your office, spend your time trying to create a better solution rather than whining about the existing one.
Don’t whine about it. Work on it.
